Pet insurance

When purchasing a kitten, it is important to consider whether you want to choose insurance. You may find this a pleasant idea or that you have the option to pay for (unexpected) costs yourself. This is of course very personal and depends on your situation. Of course we all hope that our animals can reach a good age without any problems. However, they remain living animals with which anything can happen. An accident is sometimes in a small corner and can have major financial consequences. Bengalis are not afraid of anything, love to explore and get themselves into trouble that way every now and then. If you urgently need to see a vet, the costs of the consultation, examination, treatment (possibly long-term) can add up considerably. When your animal is insured, these costs are often largely reimbursed depending on the package. Monthly premium must of course be paid depending on the package you choose, you can also set aside a nice amount yourself, you will think. If your animal remains healthy and does not have any nasty accidents, it often seems a waste of your money. But make no mistake, if something happens, the saved jar is empty very quickly. This while the insurance often already covers about 3000 per year if it is covered by the insurance. So you only need to do something serious once and taking out insurance quickly proves worth it.

Unfortunately, One in a Million Troye (6 months old, brother of Flint) also turned out to be unlucky. After an earlier emergency visit to the vet and staying overnight for an injury in/near his eye (fortunately innocent), Troye had to go to the emergency vet again a few weeks later at the weekend. This time he wasn't so lucky... Troye is an enterprising Bengal and had discovered how to climb a high cupboard. Unfortunately, the jump down didn't work out well, resulting in a broken leg, major surgery, 6 weeks of mandatory crate rest and a sky-high vet bill. Fortunately, he has owners he can count on, who will pull out all the stops for him if necessary and take good care of him. Let's hope it all heals well and that he won't do crazy things in the future.
