anesthesia warning

Narcosis - warning Bengals are known to react badly/less well to the anesthetic Ketamine. This is almost standard used in operations. The drug expresses itself in very unpleasant waking up (which takes a very long time). The cat will "hallucinate" with this drug and seriously injure itself or in the worst case not wake up. We have already had a number of times when we had a kitten that was difficult to wake up and had attacks due to the ketamine and injured itself until it bled. We had to give muscle relaxants (Valium) during the attacks. The kitten had been operated on in the morning and the seizures only lasted until about 10 PM. For any surgery in the future, the anesthetic should therefore be taken into account. We recommend opting for gas anesthesia. This is more the case with some Bengals than with others, but it is advisable to consult with the vet before an operation so that anesthesia can be adjusted in the right way.
